INTERNAL RESEARCH AND VARIETAL
CREATION
(see also genetic
resources)
The different selection programmes
that have been instigated by JOUFFRAY-DRILLAUD’s researchers
are dedicated to perfecting original plants that are capable of
meeting
the new concerns of today’s agriculture, such as:
- The quality and traceability of forage crops for ruminants
- Self sufficiency in plant proteins
- The protection of natural resources (water, soil, air, biodiversity
etc.)
- The rebuilding of soil fertility through Agronomy
- The conservation of natural predators and wildlife
- Control over and management of phytopharmaceutical residues and
excess fertilizers
At the current time, noticeable improvements to particular species
are already bringing positive responses to issues of land management
and environmental protection.
As far as RESEARCH and CREATION are concerned, JD bases
its efforts on constant investment within its own Research
station, whose ultra-modern facilities are made available to
researchers working on various plant species improvement programmes.
The strategic lines of JD RESEARCH enter into this framework, not
only via its own programmes but also through its partnerships with
key players, grouped together in several research GIEs.
